
Aaron Mullens - 2022 Region II Coach of the Year
At the helm of the Murray State College Softball program, Coach Aaron Mullens enters his seventh season with an overall record of 199-75 (.724).
Previously, Mullens also served as the Murray State Athletic Director from 2021-22 before stepping down earlier this summer. He is still currently serving as the College’s Health and Wellness Program Department Chair.
Mullens’ sixth season proved to be another record-setting season as he helped lead his team to a 2022 NJCAA Division II National Runner-Up finish.
The Durant, Oklahoma, native has now led Murray State College Softball to back-to-back national tournament appearances, as well as being recognized as a six-time defending Region 2 Division II champion since his arrival at Murray State. During the past two seasons, Murray State is an astounding 36-0 in Region 2 conference play.
This past season, Mullens and his coaching staff were recognized as the NJCAA Division II South Region Coaching Staff of the Year. He has had the opportunity to coach 5 NJCAA All-Americans, 28 NJCAA All-Region 2 Recipients and 37 NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
Prior to Murray State, Mullens compiled a 165-68 (.708) record across six seasons (2011-2016) as the head softball coach at Durant High School. He helped lead the teams to the 5A State playoffs three consecutive years from 2014-2016. His last season, he led the squad to a 5A State Runner-Up finish.
Mullens graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education, and again in 2010 with a Master of Arts in School Administration. He and his wife, Cassie, have been married for 11 years, and they have a five-year-old son, Julian. They reside in Durant, Oklahoma.
